Paris, 1908 - 1999
Among the most illustrious, among the most frequent at the Salon. He began his career as an advertising graphic designer. In 1942, the turning point. While waiting for the train in Valence, he made his first drawing of the Amoureuxs and since then the famous boyfriends have accompanied his entire artistic life (and today, in the world, there are four museums dedicated to them: in Antibes and Brassac les-Mines, and in Karuizawa and Okayama in Japan). Raymond Peynet publishes books, exhibits his works in many exhibitions, designs scenes for the theater (and many editorial initiatives are born in Bordighera). In 1953 he became president of the Disegno jury, a position he held until 1999. In 1974, his feature film, Peynet's Tour of the World of Lovers, with music by Ennio Morricone and Alessandro Alessandroni, was released in cinemas. And the direction is by Cesare Perfetto. In short, a strong, double bond with the Salone: the success of one corresponds to that of the other. So much so that he is one of the few artists to have a prominent role. Thus, making an exception to the rule, the emblematic poster of the 20th anniversary could only be designed by him.
ASSOCIAZIONE SALONE INTERNAZIONALE UMORISMO
The event could not have lasted for over fifty years without the contribution of numerous "volunteers" and "precepts" who brought enthusiasm and desire to do whatever the task received, with nineteenth-century shifts! From the choice of the drawings, to the preparation of the panels (always the same every year), to the posting with various pins of the hundreds of drawings up to the presence on stage.
We therefore want to thank, in absolutely no order but with equal contributions, all those who come to mind, apologizing if we miss some, but we are ready to fix it!
