Benito Jacovitti
Termoli, 1923 - 1997.
He is one of the most important Italian comics authors of the twentieth century, characterized by an absolutely personal and recognizable style. He collaborates with countless magazines and newspapers
(Il Corriere dei Piccoli, Il Giorno, Il Travaso, Linus) inventing dozens of characters, Cocco Bill above all. A passionate participant in the Salon, he was awarded three times: Palma d'Oro for humorous drawing in 1971 and for Illustrated Literature in 1975 and finally Dattero d'Oro for Humor comics in 1997. In 1994, president Oscar Luigi Scalfaro awarded him the title of Knight of the Order of Merit. In 2023 the MAXXI in Rome dedicated an important retrospective to him.
ASSOCIAZIONE SALONE INTERNAZIONALE UMORISMO
The event could not have lasted for over fifty years without the contribution of numerous "volunteers" and "precepts" who brought enthusiasm and desire to do whatever the task received, with nineteenth-century shifts! From the choice of the drawings, to the preparation of the panels (always the same every year), to the posting with various pins of the hundreds of drawings up to the presence on stage.
We therefore want to thank, in absolutely no order but with equal contributions, all those who come to mind, apologizing if we miss some, but we are ready to fix it!
