50th Edition of the International Exhibition of Humor
Theme of the year: A 50 YEAR LONG SMILE
Finally, after a four-year voluntary exile, the Salone returns to Bordighera! A return hoped for by the citizens, by the municipal administration and by Cesare Perfetto himself.
The Show fits easily as the spearhead of collateral events organized as part of the "Bordighera city of humor" review, this year in collaboration with RadioRAI.
Longtime humorists and friends did not miss the opportunity to express their closeness in this special edition. In addition to the usual historical presences we remember Karol Seles, Palme d'Or in 1976 and father of the now famous Monica who arrived on purpose from Florida, and Jerry Robinson, who came from New York, former President of the National Cartoonist Society and creator of the very famous The Joker, the villain of the Batman stories; and how not to mention Pol Postruzin who even comes from Sydney!
The commitment is heavy having a lot to tell with over 800 drawings from over 50 countries, so the event is split into two locations: the traditional Palazzo del Parco and the former Anglican Church. Two interesting exhibitions complete the retrospective: "Happy birthday to you too, Cocco Bill", an exhibition celebrating the forty years of the most famous cowboy in Jacovitti's comics and curated by Melegari and some portraits of the great Totò designed by Gianni Li Muli.
To complete the party, the family of the famous comedian Erminio Macario assigns the award of the same name to Cesare Perfetto "for his commitment to spreading laughter in its most varied expressions, thus making a show for fifty years".
As per tradition, also for this year the Council of Europe grants its High Patronage by rewarding two humorists. The Minimum Training Band, a humorous Mexican-style dinner at the Pallanca Exotic Gardens enliven the evenings until the awards ceremony!
