Theme of the year: MAN AND TECHNOLOGY
We are at the dawn of the technological revolution and humorists approach the new reality with a mixture of fear and trust. Quino sees a future for new spouses surrounded by electronic tools, Basirov is willing to arm wrestle with a robot while Birg, true to the motto a laugh will bury you, portrays a jester kicking a monitor, and Cavallerin portrays a heated fight between cables and humans (who doesn't happen to fight with cables?). Here, rejection and challenge, these are the predominant sentiments of the theme.
Jiri Sliva, Czech Republic, is awarded the Palma d'Oro for Design; Serguei Goizauskas, Argentina, wins the Golden Date for the Fixed Theme and the Origone brothers design the poster. The various authors of "Quelli della Notte" win the Palme d'Or for humorous literature with "Renzo Arbore presents Quelli della Notte". We note that Charles of England, Prince of Wales wins the Palma d'Argento for Children's Literature with "The Old Man by the Lake" and that Peter Nichols, correspondent for The Times of London, receives the Rama di Palme d'Or for having described the Italian events with objectivity and British verve.
The reproduction of a Swiss hut welcomes visitors throughout the week of the exhibition to the sound of the Alphorn and tasting of typical cheeses. Among the events we mention the presentation of the book Tutto Puffi by Vezio Melegari and Luciana Lanzarotti. The evening of the awards ceremony is enlivened by Enzo Braschi's "sandwich" beats from Drive In and Andy Luotto receives the literary prize representing all the other authors.
Finally, in Tabiano Terme Raymond Peynet and Cesare Perfetto are awarded for "a life spent for humor".
